Spring! / Wiosna!

Wiosna! Nareszcie! Wszedzie sie zazielenilo. Jak widac, u mnie w robotkach tez. 😀Oto serwetka robiona z polskich, zieloniutkich nici. Nieduza (ok. 23 cm srednicy), ale cieszy oko. Niektorzy nie lubia serwetek, poniewaz wydaja im sie one staroswieckie lub kiczowate. No coz, ja takiego pogladu nie podzielam. Mnie fascynuje ta cala "platanina" nitek, ktora uklada sie w rozne ciekawe i trojwymiarowe wzory.

Spring! Finally! It's getting green everywhere, and evidently in my crafting, too. 😀 Here is a doily, made from a Polish, delightfully green crochet cotton. It's not too large (approx. 9" in diameter), but a feast for the eyes nevertheless. Some people don't like doilies, because they consider them old fashioned or kitschy. I just don't see them that way. I'm absolutely fascinated  how a collection of thread loops and twists can result in such various and interesting three-dimensional patterns.

Pineapple Song Oval doily/serweta

Witajcie! Dzis postaram sie krotko i zwiezle. Przedstawiam dosyc duza serwete (62x48 cm) robiona na szydelku. Nie to, ze jakas specjalnie trudna, ale musialam sporo uwazac zeby nie robic bledow. No, powiedzmy, troche skomplikowana, ale jak widac - da sie zrobic. Pozdrawiam wszystkich serdecznie. Do zobaczenia w nastepnym poscie.

Hello! Today I'll aim for short and sweet. Here's a rather large, crocheted doily (24x19”). It's not like it was especially difficult, or anything, but I had to really concentrate on it, to prevent making mistakes. Let's just say it was somewhat complicated, but as you can see - quite do-able. Warmest greetings to you all. See you in the next post.

Primula

Today I present my first knitted doily. The pattern name is Primula from the First Book of Modern Lace Knitting by Marianne Kinzel. I chose this specific pattern not only because I like the design, but also because it seamed like an easy enough pattern for a first attempt at this type of project. I must say that  I found it to be no more difficult than other lace knitting I have done so far, or maybe even a bit easier, since instead of purling every other row (which for me is usually a slower process), I knit every other round. I also like the crocheted edging. It looks relatively interesting, it is easy to execute and does not tighten up the outer edge like a traditional cast off can. I definitely recommend this pattern to anyone who wants to try knitting a round doily or a small tablecloth. This one turned out to be 24" in diameter. In terms of yarn, I used a green,  roughly size 10 crochet cotton, and worked on size US 0 (2mm) needles. You can see the real colour of the thread in the photo of the crumpled, unblocked doily. Dzisiaj przedstawiam moja pierwsza serwete na drutach. Robilam ja wedlug wzoru "Primula" z ksiazki "First Book of Modern Lace Knitting" Marianny Kinzel. Wybralam ten wzor nie tylko dlatego, ze mi sie podoba, ale takze dlatego, ze wydawal mi sie wzglednie latwy jak na pierwszy tego rodzaju projekt. Musze powiedziec, ze w moim odczuciu, ta serweta wcale nie byla trudniejsza od innych azurow, ktore przedtem dziergalam. Moze nawet troszeczke latwiejsza  poniewaz co drugie okrazenie robilam oczkami prawymi (a nie lewymi jak w robotkach dzierganych na plasko), co u mnie tlumaczy sie na szybsze tempo pracy. Bardzo polecam ten wzor tym, ktorzy chcieliby sprobowac wydziergac serwete na drutach, i ktorzy maja dostep do tego wzoru.  Jesli chodzi o nici, to uzylam polskich nici Kaja (ok. 1.5 motka; serweta ma ok.61 cm srednicy), koloru jasnozielonego, i drutow o rozmiarze US 0 (2mm). Prawdziwy kolor lepiej widac na zdjeciu jeszcze nie rozprostowanej serwety. Jesli chodzi o naciaganie, to moglam zrobic to lepiej, ale to juz nastepnym razem. Dziekuje bardzo za odwiedziny na blogu. Kotek i serwetka/Cat and a doily

Czesc! Dzisiaj pokaze Wam dwie ukonczone rzeczy (niektore z Was juz je widzialy w naszej grupie na Facebook'u). Pierwsza, to ukonczona jakis czas temu serwetka. Zrobilam ja dla kochanej i bardzo pozytywnej Pani Niteczki, ktorej blog mozecie odwiedzic tutaj. Serwetke robilam wedlug opisu "Wreath of Roses" z ksiazki "Irish Beauty Doilies" Kathryn White. Musze powiedziec, ze bardzo fajnie sie ja dziergalo. Sadzac na podstawie mojego doswiadczenia z tym specyficznym wzorem, to koronka irlandzka nie jest az tak skomplikowana jak mi sie wydawalo.

 

Hello! Today I'll show you two recently finished projects. The first one is a "Wreath of Roses" doily from "Irish Beauty Doilies" by Kathryn White. I made it for a very dear and inspiring lady (you can visit her Polish-language blog here). I have to say that the doily was fun to crochet. Judging by my experience with this project, Irish crochet is not as complicated, as I thought it would be.

 

Druga ostatnio ukonczona rzecz, to wsciekle rozowy kotek Fat Cat (Gruby Kot) dla mojej corci. Dawno, dawno temu (gdzies w polowie lat .90), kupilam sobie na tego kotka wzor ( "The Fat Cats" firmy McCall's, nr. 6557) i uszylam go dla mojej malej siostrzenicy. Poniewaz podobal sie on takze mojej mamie, ona tez go sobie uszyla. Potem jeszcze zostalo wykonanych kilka wersji tego kotka dla roznych ludzi. Minelo sporo lat, mamy juz nie ma i jej kotkow tez. Za to mam corcie, ktora takowego kotka jeszcze nie miala. No wiec postanowilam kontynuowac 'tradycje' i uszyc go dla niej. Corcia bardzo kocurka lubi, tym bardziej, ze jest on baaaaardzo rozowy. Na pyszczku wyszylam kotu serduszko na znak, ze mama kocha swoja corcie.

The other recently finished object is this bright pink Fat Cat for my DD. Once upon a time, in the mid nineties, I saw a pattern for this cat and just had to have it ( "The Fat Cats" from McCall's Crafts, no. 6557). I made it for my young niece back then. Because my mom also loved this cat, she made one for herself, and after that, we made several more versions of these cats for other people. Today, my mom is gone and so are her kitties. However, I have a daughter, who didn't have one of her own yet. So, to continue 'the cat tradition', I made her one of her own, with a heart embroidered on its face - a message that mama loves her daughter. DD likes the cat, especially that it's veeeeeeery pink.

Kwieciste serwetki/Flowery doilies

I don't believe it... I managed to make two doilies in less than two weeks. Sure, they're small, but for me that's really super fast. The only thing is, the Violet one didn't photograph well.  In real life the doily has a beautiful, rich coloured Victorian look. The flowers are made from variegated blues and the petals underneath the blue  flowers are rich, velvety, variegated purples. Both doily designs are by Elizabeth Ann White for Bella Crochet, and can be purchased  via Ravelry. The names of both patterns are Wild Roses and Pineapples Doily, and Sweet Violets Decorative Potholder. Both doilies are not only pretty, but also veeeeery easy to make, so I highly recommend them.

Az mi sie wierzyc nie chce... Popelnilam 2 (sl. dwie) serwetki  w niecale dwa tygodnie. Owszem, sa dosyc male, ale jak na mnie, jest to tempo doslownie odrzutowe. Jedyny maly problem to to, ze kolory tej niebieskiej, nie wyszly na zdjeciu takie, jakie sa 'osobiscie'. Niebieskie kwiatki sa zrobione z ciemniejszej nici o odcieniach niebieskich, a te "niebieskie" platki pod kwiatkami, sa zrobione z nici o dosyc glebokich odcieniach fioletu. Obie serwetki sa projektu Elizabeth Ann White (dla Bella Crochet), a wzory mozna zakupic przez Ravelry. Wzory nazywaja sie Wild Roses and Pineapples Doily, oraz Sweet Violets Decorative Potholder. Obie sa baaaardzo latwe do wykonania, wiec polecam.
