Grime Guard/Ochraniacz na rame

No, to witam Was w Nowym Roku! Mam nadzieje, ze ten bedzie lepszy, niz dwa poprzednie niewypaly. Chociaz staram sie pisac tu przynajmniej raz w miesiacu, w tym roku moze jednak mi sie to nie udac. Po prostu wrocilam do rysowania i malowania, i w rezultacie bede tez publikowala wpisy na moim drugim blogu - Margaret Among Colours, gdzie Was serdecznie zapraszam.  Dzis pokaze robotke, ale taka zrobiona dla innych robotek, czyli ochraniacz na rame do wyszywania. No wiem, nie najciekawsze to to jesli chodzi o temat, ale jakze potrzebne. Bo wiecie jak to jest, robotki lubia sie brudzic na krawedziach podczas pracy, albo to od naszych rak, albo od kurzu, albo na przyklad od ogona przechodzacego wlasnie bardzo wlochatego, czarnego kota. No i niby teoretycznie mozna to potem wyprac, ale nie zawsze z tym latwo, a i kocie klaki lubia sie permanentnie wplatac pomiedzy pasemka muliny i nitki materialu.

Zrobienie takich ochraniaczy jest niesamowicie latwe i szybkie. Wycinamy sobie dwa prostokaty z materialu, dluzsze od szerokosci ramy i tak, aby latwo zakryly dolne czesci ramy (waleczki), po czym zaprasowujemy i zakladamy wszystkie brzegi. Nastepnie wzdluz obu dlugich brzegow zakladamy material na tyle, aby po przyszyciu powstaly "tunele" przez ktore przeciagniemy potem gumke.

Hello in the New Year! I hope that this one will be better than the two previous ones. Although I try to post here at least once a month, this year I may not be able to meet this schedule. The reason for it is that I returned to drawing and painting, meaning that I will also be making posts on my other blog - Margaret Among Colours, which you are more than welcome to visit.

Today, I show you a project made for other projects, i.e. a grime guard for my stitching frame. I know, not terribly exotic, but very useful. You know how it is... Despite our best efforts, our stitching tends to get dirty at the edges, whether it is from our skin oils, dust, or a very bushy tail of a passing, black house cat. Theoretically, one can always try to wash the work, but it's not always so easy to clean and when it comes to cat/pet hair, it tends to permanently weave itself into our stitches and fabric threads.

Making a grime guard is quite fast and easy. You, basically, just need to cut out two fabric rectangles, which are wider than the width of the frame and high enough to cover the rods of the frame. You then fold and press the raw edges in, stitch those into place. Afterwards, you fold the fabric along the long edges again, so that it will form two channels for the elastic, and stitch those into place.

Nastepnie przeciagamy gumke przez oba "tunele" i zszywamy konce (z gumki powstanie cos w rodzaju zflaczalej obreczy).

Next, we "thread" the elastic through both tunnels and sew both ends of the elastic together, so that it will form a flabby circle.

W rezultacie, bedziemy mogli nalozyc ochraniacz zaczepiajac gumke na obu bokach ramy i zakrywajac waleczek z nawinietym materialem.

As a result, the elastic will form two loops at both ends, which we can use to fasten the grime guard onto the frame.

Witajcie! Dzisiaj przedstawiam Wam dwie ozdoby choinkowe, robione wedlug wzorow od Mmmcrafts. Mam ich juz spora kolekcje i co roku dodaje chociaz jeden ornament. Bardzo je wszystkim polecam, poniewaz przyjemnie sie je robi, chociaz niektore wymagaja troszke cierpliwosci. Do przeniesienia wzoru na filc, polecam uzycie papieru Sulky Fabri Solvy (szczegoly mozecie znalezc tutaj).

Hello! Today I present two Christmas tree decorations, made using patterns from Mmmcrafts. I have a sizeable collection of them already and each year I try to add at least one. I highly recommend them to all crafters, because they're a joy to make, although some can require a bit of patience. For transferring the pattern onto felt fabric, I recommend using printable Sulky Fabri-Solvy stabilizer.

Witajcie! Dzis kontynuuje pokaz ozdob choinkowych. Jakis czas temu polubilam ozdoby z filcu projektowane przez Larisse Holland. Przewaznie co roku wydaje ona kilka nowych wzorow do wlasnorecznego wykonania, w swoim sklepiku na Etsy - mmmcrafts. Jak ona dodaje, to i ja dodaje do swojej kolekcji - przynajmniej jedna ozdobe na rok (cala kolekcja powyzej). Oto co u mnie przybylo w tym roku:

Hello! Today, I'm continuing with my Christmas tree decorations. Some time ago, I discovered very nice patterns for felt ornaments designed by Larissa Holland. Usually, every year she releases a couple of new ones in her Etsy shop - mmmcrafts. Whenever she adds to her store, I tend to add at least one of them to my collection (seen in its entirety above). This is what I added this year:

Ogolem powyzsze ornamenty robi sie dosyc latwo i w sumie szybko, zaleznie od tego, jak szczegolowy jest dany wzor. Instrukcje napisane i przedstawione sa bardzo klarownie, tylko po angielsku. Jesli chodzi o przeniesienie wzoru na filc/material, to uzywam specjalnego papieru - Sulky Fabri-Solvy (inna nazwa: Sulky Paper Solvy). Instrukcje pokazujace jak tego uzywam w moich filcowych ozdobach zawarlam w osobnym poscie pt."Jak stosuje Paper Solvy/Fabri-Solvy". Odnosnie innych materialow, to rzeczy takie jak muline, cekiny, itp. kupuje w jakimkolwiek sklepie z przyborami do haftu, a filc, ktory musi byc z domieszka welny nabywam na Etsy w sklepiku Sweetemmajean, ze wzgledu na ceny i mozliwosc wyboru kolorow w pakiecie.

Overall, the above ornaments are relatively easy and fast to make, depending on the level of detail in a given pattern. The instructions are written and presented very clearly. When it comes to transferring the pattern onto felt, I use suggested Sulky Fabri-Solvy (another name: Sulky Paper Solvy), which I buy on Amazon. With regards to other materials, I tend to get things like thread, beads, glue, etc., in any craft store available. Because the felt for these projects should have wool content, I order mine from Sweetemmajean shop on Etsy, because I like the prices of their packets and the ability to choose your own colors in the said packets.

Mouse in the House/ Mala myszka w malym domku

Witajcie! Wlasnie niedawno zrobilam dla corki taka mala myszke. Inspirowalam sie wzorem "Wee Mouse Tin House" Larissy Holland. Do wykonania uzylam resztek materialu, filcu, oraz malego pudeleczka po cukierkach (ok. 4 x 10 cm).  Projekt bardzo latwy, wdzieczny w wykonaniu i cieszy sie powodzeniem (bo go mozna latwo ze soba prawie wszedzie zabrac).
            Wszystkich pieknie pozdrawiam.

Hello! I just recently finished this little mouse for my daughter. I was inspired by the Wee Mouse Tin House pattern by Larissa Holland. I used various fabric and felt remnants, as well, as a little tin (about 2 x 4"). This was a very easy and fun project, which is quite popular with my daughter, because she can take it nearly everywhere with her.

No dobra, znowu Wam pokaze troche ozdob choinkowych, ktore niedawno zrobilam, ale to juz koniec w tym roku ;-) .  Jak sami widzicie, zrobilam zestaw filcowych ptaszkow i roznych takich tam. Oprocz, "ciastka", ktore mozna latwo zaplanowac i wykonac samemu, wszystkie ornamenty zostaly wykonane w/g wzorow zakupionych w Mmmcrafts tutaj.

Ok, today I'm showing you some more Christmas ornaments, which I made recently, but that's it for this year ;-).  As you can see, I made a bunch of felt birds, eggs and pears. Except the donut, all of the ornaments were made using patterns purchased at Mmmcrafts shop on Etsy, here.
