Lyra

Witajcie! Dzisiaj przedstawiam Wam projekt, ktory zaczelam 10 lat temu, a skonczylam dopiero niedawno. I nawet wyglada niezle. Ostatecznie uroslo do ok 90x90 cm. Fotki i dane ponizej.

Dziekuje wszytkim za odwiedziny i zycze pieknego dnia.

Hello, there! Today I'm presenting a project, which I started a decade ago, and just recently finished. It's not like it was particularly difficult or required a lot of knitting acrobatics, but it was complicated enough that I had to concentrate on it quite a bit in order not to make mistakes. Knitting with a very thin thread and very small needles didn't help either and in the meantime, I got drawn to other interesting projects. Boredom also factored in, considering that knitting and crocheting doilies/tablecloths gets slower and more tedious as one gets further from the center - each round simply gets longer and thus takes a lot more time to complete. When I was about 3/4 done, each round would take me about 1 hour to complete and even longer during the last few ones. I'm so glad that I weaved in a lifeline every 10 rounds or so! One day I walked away from my project for literally 30 seconds, and my cat seized that opportunity to most clumsily plop himself on top of it. Nothing happened to the cat, but my knitting... wasn't in a good state - lots of stitches came off the needles in such a way, that there was nothing else left to do but frog right down to the nearest lifeline (7 rounds in total!). Considering that each day I was only able to complete 1-2 rounds, it meant the loss of 4-5 knitting days. I felt like crying for a bit, but got myself together and finished the darned thing. I must say that it looks rather respectable, measuring about 90x90 cm per side. Photos and specs below.

Thank you so much for visiting. Wishing you a lovely day.

Crocheted Golden Girls/Szydelkowe Zlotka

*Warning: long post, lots of pictures!

*Uwaga: dlugi post, duzo zdjec!

Today, two of my dear, long time friends have a Birthday (Happy Birthday, D.&D.! Thank you for being a friend.😀) - a perfect occasion to show you my friend-themed project.
When I was a teenager, I used to like watching "The Golden Girls" (and still do). Back then, the idea of a sitcom about women over 50 was rather unusual, and the show turned out to be very funny and entertaining, and by now - a classic. When I saw "Crochet Golden Girls", a book-kit combo by Allison Hoffman, I just knew that I had to make my own GG dolls. Because the kit contains materials to only make Sophia, I bought extra acrylic yarn in order to crochet all four ladies, plus a couple of accessories. Overall, the pattern instructions were clear and easy. To further reflect the overall feel of Golden Girls, I created a background for each girl's photo, which is similar to the wallpaper that each of them had in their bedroom, eg. Blanche had banana leaf themed wallpaper/decor in her room, Sophia had a dusty blue, floral wallpaper, etc. I also used photos of the living room and kitchen, taken from a TV screen, as backgrounds for the group/cheesecake pictures.

Dzisiaj, dwie moje dobre kolezanki obchodza urodziny, czyli swietna okazja aby pokazac projekt o tematyce kolezenskiej.
Dzis, nalezy juz do klasyki telewizji, a ja nadal chetnie go ogladam. Kiedy zobaczylam ksiazke-zestaw "Crochet Golden Girls" autorstwa Allison Hoffman, to od razu wiedzialam, ze musze zrobic sobie takie same lalki. Poniewaz zestaw zawiera tylko materialy do zrobienia Sophii, dokupilam troche akrylowych wloczek aby moc zrobic reszte dziewczyn. Ogolem instrukcje byly bardzo klarowne i latwe do wykonania. Aby bardziej odzwierciedlic klimat "Golden Girls", kazdej z postaci dodalam tlo, ktore przypomina tapete, jaka kazda z nich miala w swojej sypialni, np. Blanche miala tapete i dekoracje z motywem lisci bananowca, Sophia - szaroniebieska z kwiatami, itp., itd. Jako tlo do zdjecia grupowego i z sernikiem posluzyly mi fotki salonu i kuchni, zrobione podczas emisji programu w TV.

Here are the girls:

A oto dziewczyny:

DOROTHY

This is how Dorothy looked in progress:

A tak wygladala Dorothy w trakcie pracy:

BLANCHE

ROSE

Here is Rose, before hair was added, compared to the original in the book:

A tu jest Rose, przed dodaniem wlosow, w porownaniu z oryginalem w ksiazce:

SOPHIA

SOPHIA'S PURSE

SOFA

As we know, most of the show's action took place in the living room, with the iconic sofa prominently situated in the centre. I attached the individual cushions with velcro.

Jak wiadomo, najwiecej akcji bylo w salonie, w ktorym krolowala bardzo specyficzna sofa.Poduszki na sofie przymocowalam na velcro.

CHEESECAKE/SERNIK

And, of course, where there are Golden Girls, there is cheesecake.

No i oczywiscie, gdzie Zlotka, tam i sernik.

And that is it for today. Thank you so much for visiting. Wishing you all a lovely day. 🌞

No, i to wszystko na dzisiaj. Dziekuje slicznie za odwiedziny. Zycze pieknego dnia. 🌞

The Most Beautiful Gift/ Najpiekniejszy prezent

Witajcie!
Aby je jakos odpowiednio wyeksponowac, postanowilam polaczyc wszystkie elementy w jeden sampler. Wzory corki przenioslam do programu PCStitch, i tam juz bylo latwo zaprojektowac calosc i dodac litery. Poniewaz haft jest dosyc maly (ok. 7x8.5cm), to moglam z powodzeniem wykorzystac mala resztke materialu (chyba Lugana) i resztki roznorakich nici.

Hello! Because it will be Mother's Day in Canada this upcoming Sunday, I want to show you one of the best gifts a mother can get. My daughter, knowing how much I like knitting, crocheting and embroidery, designed five small cross stitch patterns for me to enjoy. She was about 7-8 years old at the time and she did a wonderful job on these patterns. For me, it is one of the best gifts that I have ever received, and it is obvious that I had to stitch them. I decided to combine them into a sampler. To make the job easier, I translated the original patterns into a PCStitch file, which made it much easier to move the elements around and to add letters. Because the pattern is small (approx. 2 1/4 x 3 1/4" ), it easily fit on a 6x6" fabric remnant.

Dziekuje wszystkim za odwiedziny. Wszystkim mamom na swiecie zycze pieknego Dnia Matki.

Thank you so much for visiting. Wishing moms all over the world a wonderful Mother's Day.
