Winter Gnomes/Zimowe gnomy

 

  Druga polowa listopada - u nas juz spadl snieg. Sezon na robotki zimowo-swiateczne oficjalnie otwarty! Z tej okazji przedstawiam Wam moje najnowsze skrzaty dziergane na drutach. Robione byly prawie identycznie jak ich jesienni bracia tutaj, czyli ogolem proste i szybkie w wykonaniu. Tym razem postanowilam zrobic kazdemu inny nos, aby bylo smieszniej. Grzybow do nich nie dziergalam, bo mi sie nie chcialo. W przyszlosci mam (mgliste) plany na inne dziergane grzybki.

Dla zainteresowanych detalami, ponizej pokazalam poszczegolne czesci skrzatow przed wypchaniem i zszyciem. Brody robilam z czesanki zwiazanej na jednym koncu wloczka i przyszytej do czubka glowy.

I to by bylo na dzisiaj. Mam nadzieje, ze sie Wam bedzie milo patrzylo na ponizsze fotki. Dziekuje pieknie za odwiedziny, pozdrawiam cieplutko i zycze dobrego dnia.

Half way through November, and we already have snow on the ground. Season for winter-Christmas crafts has officially started! Consequently, I present my knitted winter gnomes. I made them nearly exactly the same way, as the Fall gnomes here, meaning they were quite simple and rather quick to complete. This time, I decided to make their noses different, so they would look a bit funny. I didn't knit the accompanying mushrooms, because I just didn't feel like it. I do have vague plans for a different type of knitted and crocheted mushrooms in the future.

For those who like this type of detail, I also included a photo of different gnome components prior to stuffing and sewing together. The beards were made using roving, tied at one end with yarn, and sewn to the top of the head.

Winter Gnomes/Zimowe skrzaty

Witajcie w nowym roku! Jaki on bedzie? Odnosze wrazenie, ze chaotyczny. Ze bedzie duzo zmian, rzeczy niespodziewanych, lecz niekoniecznie w negatywnym znaczeniu. Wyglada na to, ze jednym z tematow bedzie wolnosc, co moze oznaczac protesty, walki, itp., itd., ale takze uwolnienie sie od rzeczy lub ludzi, ktore nas w jakis sposob ograniczaja. Pozyjemy, zobaczymy. Zycze, aby kazdemu/kazdej z was los przyniosl same dobre rzeczy, duzo dobrego zdrowia i cierpliwosci.

    Na pierwszy post tego roku przeznaczylam zimowe skrzaty. Z szydelkowego punktu widzenia, to byly one bardzo latwe do wykonania. Troszke wiecej dlubaniny bylo z przyszywaniem rak i nosow, ale tez nic skomplikowanego. W sumie, projekt latwy, szybki i bezprzygodowy, czyli, ze wiele tu nie ma do powiedzenia. Ogolem rzecz biorac, sporo podobnych wzorow jest w sieci, i wiekszosc z nich jest raczej nieskomplikowana.

    Slicznie dziekuje Wam za odwiedziny. Do nastepnego postu.

 

Welcome in the new year! What is it going to be like? I get the feeling that it will be chaotic. That it will be full of changes, unexpected things, but not necessarily negative ones. It looks like one of the themes will be freedom, which may mean protests, fighting, etc., but also freedom from things/people that are limiting us in some way. Well... time will tell. I wish that life will bring each and every one of you only good things, lots of good health and patience.

    For the first post of the year, I designated Winter Gnomes. From a  crochet point of view, they were very easy to make. There was a bit of fiddly work with attaching arms and noses to the bodies, but nothing really complicated. Overall, it was an easy, quick and uneventful project, hence there's not much else to say about it. Generally speaking, there are many similar patterns out there on the internet and a large majority of them look like they're easy to make as well.

Pumpkin Season - part 2/ Sezon na dynie - cz. 2

Witam wszystkich serdecznie. Jak juz wspomnialam poprzednim razem, na poczatku tego roku naszla mnie wielka ochota na robienie dzierganych dyn. Jeszcze podczas robienia poprzedniego trio, natknelam sie na stronie Mary Maxim na zestaw do szydelkowania pieciu dyn. I chociaz ich styl byl raczej prosty, to mial w sobie jakis urok. W sumie robilo sie latwo, przyjemnie i szybko. Jedyne, za czym generalnie raczej nie przepadam, to podane instrukcje do ogonkow i lodyg. Jakos przewaznie wole je robic wedlug swojej fantazji, na oko, z wloczek melanzowych. Im bardziej fikusne, tym lepiej. W tym przypadku zrobilam trzy wedlug instrukcji, a reszte po swojemu. Mary Maxim juz nie oferuje danego zestawu (przynajmniej teraz), ale wzor -"CV131 Picking A Pumpkin"- w formacie pliku .pdf mozna zakupic bezposrednio od projektantki, Donny Harelik, z jej sklepiku, na Etsy.

Hello, everyone! As I mentioned in my last post, I got the pumpkin-making bug. While I was still knitting the cabled pumpkins, I happened to stumble upon a crochet pumpkin kit on Mary Maxim's website. Despite their simplicity, I found them quite charming and decided to make them, too. As with the cabled pumpkins, these were also easy, quick and a lot of fun to crochet. The only thing I seem not to be too fond of, is the original stems in these types of patterns. For some reason I usually prefer to knit or crochet them my way, i.e. without any specific pattern, often using variegated yarns, customizing their look, feel and size to an individual pumpkin. The more convoluted and gnarly it comes out, the better. In this case, I followed instructions for three of the pumpkins' stems. Mary Maxim does not offer this specific kit and/or pattern at this time, but the .pdf file of  CV131 Picking A Pumpkin,  can be purchased in Donna Harelik's (the pattern's designer) Etsy shop.

Podczas szperania na stronie Mary Maxim, wpadly mi tez w oko szydelkowe zoledzie w koszyczku - no bo przeciez bez nich nie moze sie obejsc "porzadna" jesienna dekoracja. Tu juz nie bylo tak latwo i przyjemnie jesli chodzi o dzierganie. Tasiemkowa-fredzlowata wloczka Mary Maxim Scrub It okazala sie bardzo niewygodna w robocie. Nie dosc, ze dosyc szorstka (bo taka musi byc - nadaje sie swietnie na drapiace sciereczki), to bardzo latwo sie platala. Dzieki fredzlom bardzo trudno bylo rozpoznac indywidualne slupki, przez co nie zawsze mozna bylo widziec gdzie wkluc szydelko. A prucie to juz wogole nieciekawa sprawa. No, ale powoli jakos je skonczylam i efekt jest OK.

While I was browsing the Mary Maxim site, I also got an interesting kit to make crochet acorns in a basket, without which Fall decorating just wouldn't be the same. However, in this case, the stitching wasn't as smooth and pleasant as I hoped it would be. The tape-fringe yarn (Mary Maxim Scrub It) was quite rough (which it's actually supposed to be), easy to tangle and because of the fringe, I found it very hard to see individual stitches. And when it comes to frogging it... well.. that can be another type of challenge altogether. Still, it's perfect for some seriously good scrubbies. So, overall, despite some obstacles I managed to finish the project and I kind of like the effect.
