"Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" cast/Postacie z "Rudolfa, czerwononosego renifera"

Year 1983 - our first Christmas in Canada. We were poor and a bit lonely, since there were only four of us - my  parents, my brother and I. The rest of the family lived in Poland. We only had one channel on TV, so the choice of programming was very limited. Unlike the generally happy and uplifting holiday programming in Europe, the North American offerings were dominated by sad stories - tearjerkers with questionable happy endings. Fortunately, there were also a few more uplifting programs aimed at kids. One of them was the 1964 classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which by now is an integral part of North American pop culture and it's hard to imagine Christmas without Rudolph. Back then, this movie was a sort of introduction to the spirit and flavour of Canadian and American Christmas for me. After all these years, it serves as a reminder of my first years in Canada, my parents and my brother, all three of whom have passed away some time ago, and fills my heart with nostalgia. Consequently, when my husband bought me a book and crochet kit to make Rudolph and Santa based on this movie, I was very happy. Although it contained only enough materials to make these two characters, the book, authored by Kati Galusz, had patterns to make all the major characters. So, I bought what I needed and crocheted all of them. It took quite a bit of time, because some of the projects were somewhat complicated in the sense that they required making and putting together several small parts. Without further ado, here is my crocheted Rudolph cast:

Rok 1983 - pierwsze Boze Narodzenie poza krajem. Bylo biednie, troche smutno, bo bylo nas tylko czworo, czyli moi rodzice, brat i ja. Nie stac nas bylo na telewizje kablowa, wiec wybor programow byl bardzo ograniczony (jeden kanal). W przeciwienstwie do przewaznie wesolych lub rozrywkowych programow prezentowanych na Swieta w Europie, w Ameryce Polnocnej krolowaly opowiesci raczej smutne, takie to niby wyciskacze lez z watpliwym happy endem. No, ogolem nieciekawie, ale na szczescie dla dzieci emitowano kilka weselszych bajek. Jedna z nich byl (dzis juz kultowy) film animowany, "Rudolf, czerwononosy renifer", z 1964 roku. Ogolem mozna stwierdzic, ze jest on niezbedna czescia pop-kultury w Kanadzie i USA, i nie da rady wyobrazic sobie okresu Bozego Narodzenia bez Rudolfa. Tak, jak w Polsce co roku mozna ogladac "Kevina samego w domu", tak u nas oglada sie "Rudolfa" (poza innymi klasykami).  Wtedy, na poczatku, byl on dla mnie takim wprowadzeniem w smak polnocnoamerykanskiego okresu swiatecznego. Dzis kojarzy mi sie z pierwszymi latami poza Polska, z rodzicami i bratem, ktorzy odeszli do tamtego swiata jakis czas temu, i napelnia serce nostalgia. Dlatego tez, kiedy maz zrobil mi niespodzianke i kupil zestaw do wydziergania Rudolfa i Mikolaja ze wspomnianego juz filmu, bardzo sie ucieszylam. I chociaz zawieral on wystarczajaco materialow do zrobienia tylko dwoch wyzej wymienionych postaci, to w zalaczonej ksiazeczce, autorstwa Kati Galusz, znajdowaly sie wzory do wykonania wszystkich wazniejszych bohaterow z tego filmu. Zakupilam wiec co trzeba i zrobilam wszystkie, choc zajelo to sporo czasu - niektore z nich sa troszke skomplikowane, poniewaz skladaja sie z wielu bardzo malych czesci. No dobra, koncze juz zbedne gadanie i przedstawiam Wam szydelkowa obsade Rudolfa:
